Paris and Brussels 2017
The exhibition of works by Saiso Shimada at the Galerie Etienne de Causans in Paris opened 19th June 2017 - see below.
But the same day we received the sad news of the death of Mrs Shimada's husband.
In consequence she was not present in Paris as planned, but represented by her two long term assistants.
The event in Brussiels at the Japanese Embassy on the 23rd was maintained, again with Saiso's two assistants representing her.

on the left one given the title 'Racines' (Roots), but really 'Establishment' or perhaps 'Implantation', and on the right the first panels of 'The creation of heaven and earth'. |
'Snow, Moon, Flowers'
on Chinese paper incorporating fragments of gold leaf purchased 40 years ago which Mrs Shimada had kept until she found the ideal subject for its use. |
